South Devon with Teenagers

I'm taking four 16 year olds to South Devon. Staying near to Modbury.

We have enjoyed the area so much in past years but have very much stuck to beautiful walks and beaches and other outdoorsy stuff.

This year I anticipate it will be quite a different holiday and I'd like to be able to be more flexible with what we do as my idea of a lovely day is different to theirs and I'm ok with that! So I would love some ideas of things to see and do with the teenagers that aren't too far away.

Thank you

Surf lessons on Bantham beach? I’ve also seen paddle board tours around Kingsbridge, which look quite fun.

Dartmouth and Salcombe are always worth a mooch on a wet day but really, the teens will happily surf in the rain I’m sure.

Surfing. Weather doesn't matter!

Book a canoe trip with Singing Paddles on the Kingsbridge estuary- their cream tea one might appeal to teens. The guy who runs it is great with young people.

Start Point lighthouse tour is also interesting, if they’re in to history / shipwrecks, but you do need to check opening times as it’s run by volunteers so they do vary.

Thanks really kind of you @cherryassam.
One loves surfing so that's brilliant, but 2 of them are a bit cautious about it. Will give it a go though.

They all love music and guitars.

Other than that I'm not very sure yet. So I guess just trying to gather some options together.

I've heard Totness is a great place to visit so we may pop that way too.

No problem at all!

She’s recommended:

  • Splashdown Quaywest, Paignton
  • National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth
  • High ropes / kayaking / caving / climbing at River Dart Country Park, Ashburton
  • HQ Escape Rooms, Dartmouth

She also said that there’s a series of concerts on at Dartington Hall because of a Summer School / Festival that’s on - of music is an interest there may be something you can book tickets to which would be interesting!

There are apparently also some independent music / instrument shops in Totnes and Kingsbridge - including a very good record store in Totnes called Drift if that would be of interest.

How about a day trip to Exeter? My dc loved the crazy golf, shuffleboard and augmented reality darts at Boom Battle Bar, which accepts under 18s before 8pm. there’s also a good indoor Karting track in Exeter called Raceworld.

If they are into food/cooking, take a trip to the South Devon Chilli farm. It's small but interesting South Devon Chilli Farm

We went kayaking with teens from Dartmouth that was excellent.

Dartmoor llamas was great.

Think it was Adventure Oakehampton which had great things like gorging kids loved.
