Hi everyone. I'm planning on taking my best friend to Manchester for a night at the very end of September. I'm just wondering if you can give me recommendations for hotels that are near the nightlife? Bars / clubs. I haven't ever been for a night out before around there so definitely need some heads up please guys!

Thanks so much. X

It depends what sort of nightlife you want! It’s not centred on one area in the same way as it is in Liverpool for example.

What sort of bars / clubs would you like?

I really like the Albert schloss, food is good, good atmosphere and cheesy entertainment.

I love a travel lodge there one right in middle at Piccadilly gardens and another at Blackfriars’s 2 minutes walk from arndale

I've stayed in Motel One a couple of times near Piccadilly station which was very central and a nice hotel.

Dakota is amazing if it's in your budget :)
For food and dancing head to Spinningfields: Ivy Asia, Albery Schloss, Manchester Blues Kitchen

Avoid hotels in Piccadilly Gardens like the plague. It may sound lovely, but believe me there are no gardens in sight!. Its the goto area for drug dealing and has attracted issues with large groups of teenagers gathering recently.

Another vote here to avoid Piccadilly Gardens, and stay vigilant in Manchester city centre in general. And that's from someone who grew up in Newcastle and has lived in Belfast, Bristol and Southampton...

Midland or Malmaison. Midland is my favourite.

You will find some trendy boutique hotels around the northern Quarter which has an excellent nightlife scene for restaurants and bars. Best do a bit of research on this rather than asking MN.

Ancoats has a new scene with some nice bars and restaurants. Is closer to northern Quarter and may also have some more budget options.

Hilton on deansgate has a sky bar for cocktails. Hotel Gotham is a five star centrally located boutique hotel, radisson blu edwardian is closer to castlefield and Albert's schloss, dirty martini, chain bars like revs de Cuba, there's a few 'speakeasy' type bars around deansgate and Peter Street that we often go to for decent but pricey cocktails (no idea what they are called!!) and there's an NQ64 outpost with retro video games (there's one in the northern Quarter too which is quite fun)

I wouldn't stay at say Malmaison its right near piccadilly and there's a fair few hotels that way, not too far from northern Quarter but fair slog (20min) walk to bottom of deansgate and nightlife around there.

Moose is renowned for brunch

Dishoom is a trendy Indian restaurant thst everyone loves.

Manchester Confidential is a good website for restaurant / bar reviews.

Avoid a weekend when football is on as hotels are very expensive.
