Nice hotel in/near Sheffield?

I need to be in Sheffield (the south east side, near Waterthorpe actually) for the night soon and would like to double it up as a nice night away with my girlfriend if I can find somewhere nice to stay. Can anyone recommend anywhere?

The Mercury Hotel near the botanical garden is lovely.

Mercure I meant!

Mecure by the Winter Gardens is a nice location.

Yes, the Mercure is one of the nicer hotels in Sheffield (I used to get sent there on business a lot). I've also stayed at The Leopold (decent) and the Hampton by Hilton (functional but surprisingly good food in the restaurant there). Of the three, I'd pick the Mercure.

stayed at the rutland at the weekend – wouldn’t recommend

Leopoldo Hotel

If you are needing to be at Waterthorpe the Mosborough Hall Hotel is really nice and close by. Could couple with Renishaw Gardens for a day out. However this would feel small town / countryside ish! Town centre would have theatre / cinema etc.

The Devonshire Arms at Middle Handley

Sitwell Arms at Renishaw is nice and at the right end of town for waterthorpe

Thank you everyone.

Mosborough Hall Hotel and the Mercure are both fully booked, the Leopold looks lovely but no on site parking isn't ideal in this particular circumstance, so I've narrowed it down to the Sitwell Arms or the Devonshire Arms, which both look wonderful.
