Place for lunch on way to Falmouth?

Taking daughter to look at Falmouth Uni next week, travelling from SW London. I'm the only driver and wondering if anyone can suggest a good place to stop for lunch? Preferably at least half way to two thirds there. Also relatively easy to get off the motorway from - I don't want to add much to my driving time! Thanks!

Darts Farm or Hog & Hedge

Strawberry Fields at Lifton. 😊 we often stop here between Exeter and Falmouth

Exeter and Truro are full of lovely foodie places!

Seafront cafe at Clevedon (there are several) only 5/10 mins off M5

Thanks you! I think Strawberry Fields is too close to our destination, I will have been driving for four hours at that point! And I think we are going via M3, which knocks out Clevedon, though it looks nice. I guess our best bet is Exeter, so will check out Darts Farm. Thanks again.

If you're going to Cornwall it will be the M5 I should think?

A303 or 'lM4/5?

mondaytosunday · 06/07/2023 09:21

Satnav says M3 then the A303.

The Otter kitchen is nice, it's near the A30 at Honiton.

Otter valley kitchen, that should be !

gogomoto · 06/07/2023 17:14

Honiton is a good option, there's several good lunch spots depending on your budget

explainthistomeplease · 06/07/2023 17:18

Cornish resident here who used to live in SW London. A 303 and remember the A 30 is currently a nightmare due to upgrade works.
Anyway - I'd either do a utilitarian stop at exeter services, or make a day of it and stop at a NT property en route - Killerton near exeter for example.

Heron Farm, just off the A30 past Honiton is lovely. It's a nice cafe with outdoor space and a small deli/gift shop too. You can wander round the orchards too if you need a leg stretch. Heron Farm - Vineyard in Devon (heron-farm.co.uk)

Thanks everyone. Honiton or Exeter it is - @explainthistomeplease I can't stand service stops and do not want to add any more time to the travelling day to a stop at an NT property, as nice as that sounds! But an hour at a decent cafe or restaurant not too far off the motorway is what I'm after, and I'll look at those recommendations for Honiton and Exeter. Hoping the traffic won't be too bad on a Tuesday.
