Long weekend recommendations 2 hours of Newcastle

I’m thinking of a long weekend in the early summer next year when the weather tends to be better than later summer. Some where no more than 2 ish hours drive from Newcastle travelling with an 8 and a nearly 5 year old. I started looking at caravan parks because I liked the idea of a play park near but the trip advisor reviews are terrifying. Does anyone have any ideas where to start?

This is a beautiful site ( lodges, camping and caravans) and not your usual holiday camp. Not sure how many £££’s though as I imagine quite select.

That looks lovely but a £850 for 2 nights it’s more than I wanted to pay.

I agree with this.

2 hours drive takes you easily to the Borders or Edinburgh, Berwick, Northumberland. So many beautiful places. Sorry no idea about holiday parks as we always get a cottage though.

There are loads of lovely Glamping places up the Northumberland coast and inland

Coldingham is lovely. Many parts of East Lothian too.

How about Eyemouth holiday park? We've stayed in a number of Parkdean lodges and they're all immaculate, good entertainment for little ones.

One of my favourite places is Swinton Estate lodges, druids temple within walking distance, loads of walks, open water swimming, hot tub, a little cafe on site and kids are allowed in spa for one hour a day.
However they do get booked quite far in advance.

Tree Lodges

Rustic, secluded Tree Lodges. Off-grid and electricity-free. A truly authentic, back-to-nature holiday experience in North Yorkshire.

It’s a push to drive to Edinburgh in 2 hours from Newcastle! You could get the train and have a city break though.
I know people who’ve been to haggerston castle site and said it was ok.
peebles hydro?

Why would anyone spend money to be two hours away from the great city of Newcastle.
Some of us have spent hundreds to have a hen weekend there.
