Travelling with 16 month old at the end of the month and looking for the best service stations - ideally ones with a nice walk. I know Tebay is lovely so will stop there and also Gretna outlets too, but looking for suggestions please :) will be travelling from around 10am from Glasgow on a weekday, then down the M6.

Not sure of your route after the M6 but Hopwood services on the M42 are lovely with a nice walk including ponds.
Gloucester services on the M5 are similar to Tebay.
On the M6 there used to be a mushroom-shaped building for the services with the eatery overlooking a lake but I can't remember which it was . Keele perhaps.

M6 Junction 22: Kenyon Hall Farm - one of those perfect family-friendly motorway stops – there’s a café, farm shop and walks. You can also go fruit picking in the summer.
M6 Junction 31: Brockholes Nature Reserve - only a mile from the junction but so peaceful. There is a charge for parking though.

We always used to stop at Brockholes nature reserve when the DCs were younger, it is lovely with a nice play area and good food but food choices are quite limited, quite pricey and the car park charge went up and up.

I quite like Annandale Water on the M74 because it has nice outdoor seating around a lake but might be too soon after setting off.

Lancaster has the mushroom tower which is eyecatching but you can't go up it. The M6 services are much of a muchness apart from Tebay IMO.

Lancaster services is a dump, i'd only stop there if I was desperate for a dump
Knutsford town is just off the M6 and there's a play area at the Town Moor. Or Cannock Chase to the south of Stafford.

Yeah, Charnock Richard and Keele are pretty awful too.

Thanks all :) I agree re Lancaster, we tend to drive past.
