Im flying from Heathrow late at night and have a free day before I fly and would like to visit London. I have a hire car but don't want to drive into the city. There's 3 of us travelling up from Guilford to Heathrow. Can anyone please suggest where would be a good station to park the car and catch a train or bus into London, on route, so we can visit London for the day ?

This one in Richmond, right by the station.

Richmond is well served by frequent fast trains to Waterloo but there are also other trains and tubes.

Thankyou !

You can park at Westfield White City

Fast trains from Guildford to Waterloo are 30 minutes, not sure I’d bother driving to Richmond which will take you at least 45 minutes, to then get a train which takes another 20.

Why not just get a train from Guildford?

You get a discount travelling in a group of 3 on the trains as well.

Why have you hired a car to get to Heathrow when you're flying out?
Why not just go from Guildford to London by train, use the left luggage facilities at the station, collect it later and travel to Heathrow on the tube? All London rail stations have Tube stations too.
I think Guildford trains go into Waterloo so it's only one change on the Tube to Heathrow.

This is what I would do too. (Lived in London for 27 years).

This.

Google [station name] left luggage store.

You can either leave your luggage at Waterloo station or travel across to Bond Street station to leave it there. (Some you will need to book in advance.)

Depends what you want to do in the day.

I've been visiting people on the south coast which is why I have a car but because of a change of plan I have a whole day before my flight and would like to visit London for the day. Thankyou so much for the great suggestions. Looks like Guildfird could be a good call.

There are hire car places at guildford station, if you want to return your car there? Then train straight from guildford to London.

Skinnermarink · 02/06/2023 20:30

Don’t do left luggage at stations, look up Stash it. Far more reasonably priced and a very good choice of locations to leave your valuables.
