Nice market towns in the midlands for a shopping trip.

I fancy pottering round somewhere with some nice independent clothes and homeware type shops. Probably East Midlands, so Notts, Leics, Lincs, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire area.

just not sure since covid, cost of living, etc where still has nice shops or where has been affected by businesses going bust. I was thinking Stamford but haven’t been for a decade, is it worth a trip. Or anywhere similar/better?

Katie Cardew and Iris & Violet virtually opposite each other on St Mary's Street; are two independent shops that may not have been there if it's a few years since you went.

We were in Oakham for 7 years 2009-2016.

I've not been back for a couple of years but might go back over the summer to see friends. I'm disappointed that it's no longer the lovely little bustling market town it was.
Our DD was born there SJ it holds lots of happy memories.

Market Harborough is nice but there's not a lot there.

@Moonflower12 I have not been for a couple of years admittedly. This thread is making me nostalgic though. I have some lovely pictures on my walls from Furleys. Another place that closed in 2017. Walkers bookshop is still there.

Hope you get back this year. It is still a lovely little place and Rutland will always be home for me, but it is just not the same anymore.

That said, the loos in Wetherspoons are lovely

Ashby de la Zouch has some nice shops and there are more at Staunton Harold near by.

Another vote for Leamington Spa.
