Liverpool is fab.

Not too big it gets overwhelming and loads of free museums, parks and beaches. We love both but id head to Liverpool over London if I was wanting a break to chill out.

Birmingham - there’s the ThinkTank, Cadbury World (can easily be done on a train trip from the centre), Bear Grylls adventure, motorcycle museum, Villa Park stadium tour…

Great list! And also the Black Country Living Museum isn't too far away if anyone in the family is into history or Peaky Blinders (as some of it was/is filmed there).

Belfast?

There's a science museum, titanic, small general museum.

Another Vote for Liverpool
Speed boat ride around the docks
Loads of free museums
Williamson tunnels.
Excellent parks.
It can be busy or relaxed depending on what you choose.
Just avoid any show or football weekends and accommodation is reasonable.
Excellent travel links to explore the Wirral and North Wales.

I have heard good things about the space centre in Leicester but not been

Moomoola · 26/05/2023 23:42

Ooh thank you. All things science, computery and spacey are great. He’s a 15 year old Gollum that seem to think he melts. if he goes outside 🙄😂

Is it too late to suggest Manchester?

There's the Science and Industry Museum.

123ZYX · 27/05/2023 09:41

Bletchley Park? There used to be a computing museum on the same site but not sure if it's still there

Moomoola · 30/05/2023 08:29

Oh both great ides, thank you! Went to college in Manchester, it’s a great place
