Swange summer hols - what to do when raining

We are thinking about having our summer holiday in Swanage. Our DD is 5 and DS will be 3. Having had an awful 2 weeks last year in Brittany with rain nearly every day we're thinking we'll spend a lot less and risk the rain here - at least if it is really bad we can go home! So where do you go with 2 kids when it rains. Are there any soft play centres in Swanage? What is the leisure centre like? What other attractions are OK for a rainy day?

Love to hear from you - locals or others who have spent a holiday there.

Yes the train is a good thing if it is raining as you are not out in it.

This place has softplay:

There is the helicopter museum at Bovington that is mainly indoors.

Thanks for all your ideas. We have decided to go for it and book for August.

The museum at Bovington is the tank museum, Falmer Palmers near Wareham is much better than Putlake IMHO, just outside Poole their is Tower Park with water slides etc, second the steam train Bournemouth is not too far with aquarium, equally Weymouth with Sea life centre and Brewers Quay

Tank Museum at Bovington-my DH spends hours & hours there!! Train to Corfe Castle is good (we've done it in reverse as we stay in Corfe-as we are doing this yr again!) It'll be different for us this yr as DD is 2.5 yrs old this time, instead of an easy, do anything 9 mth old!! We went 2 yrs ago & had NO rain whatsoever until the night we drove home! 2 wks of glorious hot 25-30 oC+ weather & it was too hot for us!! (We don't like it too hot!!) I'm hoping for a repeat on the weather front! There's a real proper chocolate factory for the adults in Swanage which gets LOADS of reviews in the Daily Telegraph w/e magazines! Nice coastal walk from Durlston Head past tilly whim caves (not accessible due to H&SE! ) up to the lighthouse. If you want any other info let me know. Tynehams' good aswell-deserted village & nice flat walk down to Warbarrow bay. At Kimmeridge bay there's fossil hunting (un-official of course!)
Nice quiet, but VERY steep walk down to Chapmans pool-lovely swimming. As I say contact me direct if you want to know any further walks etc...BUT not v.knowledgable on things for young ones.

He does indeed! Maybe you could go round for tea!

There's a indoor water centre in Poole. I'll see if I can find a link....

just looking....

Here you go!
