Where to stay in / near Chatham

Ds has been selected to compete in a sporting event in Chatham over the first weekend in July. This is a bit of a surprise selection which is why I’ve not booked earlier to get better prices

I have never been there and booking accommodation at this fairly short notice is looking quite pricey! We will arrive Friday evening, be out early Saturday morning, arrive back early Saturday evening and be gone again by 8am on Sunday.

Can anyone suggest any good, clean accommodation with safe parking? If it has a kitchen I am happy to self cater to keep costs down, otherwise we’ll need somewhere close by to eat at without breaking the bank.

There are a couple of premier inns nearby which could be a reasonable option depending whereabouts in Chatham you need to be. I live here so happy to advise, if I can help at all.

Thank you. Anywhere within about 1/2 hour of the centre of Chatham will do us perfectly!

There's a Premier Inn in Gillingham that's next to a Cookhouse and pub restaurant but also only a few minutes from a large tesco to buy food for your room.

The travel lodge at chatham dockside is okay, there are lots of places to eat at the shopping centre across the road (nandos, subway and some less chain places too).

If you're.looking at cheaper end, then there is a youth hostel in hempstead which is about a 15 min drive to chatham and opposite the ski slopes if that is where you are headed

Thanks all, this is very helpful. Ds has been to the ski slope with school before, that’s not where we’re heading this time but helpfully he can’t remember where they stayed!

Holiday Inn at Rochester Airport is decent (it's basically in Chatham). There's also a company that does airbnb type lettings called Kasar Stays (think you should be able to find them on Google) - we've rented a house from them for a few days a couple of times and it worked well.

Thanks, we’ve gone for PI at Rainham.
Plenty of parking, aircon in the rooms as well as being one of the cheapest.

Glad you've got it sorted. There is a Beefeater on site and only a few minutes to a large Tesco as well if you need it. Quite a few takeaways nearby as well if you want that option.

Thanks @warnc007, that’s very handy.

are there any Tesco express or Sainsbury’s local type shops about that we can pick up fresh picnic supplies from early on a Sunday morning?!
