Chinese restaurants in Newcastle

My very covid-wary (sensibly as in their 80s) parents are wanting to take my ds for a Chinese meal in Newcastle when they are in the city for an appointment. Can anyone suggest a decent place likely to be fairly empty / spacious / airy mid week early evening?
Thanks if you can!

Landmark on Stowell Street could be an option. It's a modern building with air con etc and fairly spacious inside. Not open on Mondays as I recall.

There is a great place in Eldon square towards the monument side. First floor I think. The name has completely escaped me but it was sooo goood

Are you after a buffet style one?

If they are covid wary I would think they would want to avoid a buffet.

There is a small Chinatown area in Newcastle with several Chinese restaurants but I haven't eaten in any of them.

Go down Stowell Street and look through the windows, see what you like the look of. There are loads. Unlikely to be busy mid week.

I agree Landmark is good and v modern. King Neptune always used to do the best food but it's a more traditional, tablecloth and hanging red decor type place..

Thanks everyone!

Buddha lounge in tynemouth is beautiful and will be quiet midweek! It's only 20 mins on the metro from town!

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea it’s Thai but I’ve always had great food there. It has the added bonus of having a roof terrace if they’d feel more comfortable sitting outside (it’s quite sheltered and I think there were heaters).

Chaophraya Newcastle | Thai Restaurant | Thai Dining with Heart - Chaophraya

Flavour the beating heart of Thailand at Chaophraya Newcastle, on the top floor of the popular Intu Eldon Square shopping centre. Expect the very best Thai cuisine, signature cocktails and the authentic Thai hospitality. Open everyday.

I thought it was the Thai. We went there after DD's graduation. The food is fantastic.

Stowell Street is, indeed, Chinatown. Should be lots of choice.

If they are willing to extend to Thai, "Nadon" on Dean Street next to the Cathedral is lovely.

PhotoDad · 15/05/2023 21:44

Sorry, Mosley Street! (Other side of the Cathedral...)

They went to Amaysia and loved it! Thanks for the suggestions 🍜
