I'm travelling to science museum from Essex I believe I need to get to Holborn Station to access the Museum.
Could someone tell me where I can drive to to park then jump on underground please.

If you’re going to the Science Museum, then it’s likely South Kensington tube station that you need. Holborn is for the British Museum.
South Kensington is on the Circle, District, and Piccadilly lines.

I can’t help with the parking, but hopefully this will help with your planning.

Nearest tube is South Kensington I believe, from memory. Also you can often park nearby at the university if you don't mind paying the congestion charges etc.

The science museum and transport for London websites should have all the information you need to plan your visit.

The one on exhibition Rd? That's not near Holborn. Or do you mean change at Holborn?

TeaIsRisen · 09/05/2023 15:46

It's South Kensington tube station you need to get to, Holborn is the station for the British Museum and is miles away from the Science Museum.

The lines that serve South Kensington are the District Line (the green one) and the Piccadilly Line (the dark blue one). I'd suggest looking at a tube map and picking a station on one of those lines to park at.

If you’re coming from Essex you could get the train into Liverpool Street I think (?) and then the tube to South Kensington which is where you’d need for the science museum.

Get on an overground train in Essex, get off at Liverpool Street, go on the tube to South Ken- circle/District line. I hope that works for you OK - but I'm not sure, OP do you have additional support needs that make it hard to get on the train? Or to use the Internet to route yourself? As if so we can provide different advice.

It's really not worth driving into London and parking. There is a congestion charge and parking will be expensive. From Essex you'll no doubt get an overground train into Liverpool Street or Canon Street. From there you change to the underground and get a District or Circle line train to South Kensington.

You want south Ken for the science museum. Upminster is on the right line

MarpleFan · 09/05/2023 16:00

As others have said, you really don't want to drive in Central London if you don't need to. You might be able to find parking near Upminster Station, and then jump on the district line all the way to South Kensington, but it would be much easier to get to Liverpool Street on the train and then get on the circle line from there.

If you're in Essex you can drive to Upminster which is the end of the District line, then ride it all the way to South Ken. I can't comment on the parking at Upminster though.

Haha yep I've looked again..the train station I need is south Kensington lol my friend told me Holborn..strange!! thank guys..were going to train it all the way. I havent been to London in years so I was unsure if driving halfway was still the best way to go. I have the training app..so I can better plan it. Thank you everyone
