Parking at Redhill station - help please!

I'm collecting a friend who's coming to visit from Redhill train station and blithely imagined there was short stay parking I could leave the car in while I met them. But looking online, it seems you can only pay for a whole day of parking which is £8. Which I can do obviously but seems a tad steep for 20 mins.

Is there a short stay or drop off zone or something? Google is not helping!

Thank you for any advice 🙏

Only a forecourt to pick up/drop off, but no waiting. If you are there over 10 minutes you will get fined. Sainsbury's opposite is free for an hour but the lifts are a less direct walk through the precinct.

Just ask your friend to come out onto the forecourt where you are parked. That's what I do with DD2 when we visit DD1.

Thanks both!

Forecourt will be fine. I'll need to help with bags as she's elderly but the station is accessible so as long as she can get off the train, she can get to the forecourt. I can always drive around if her train is delayed.

Super helpful MN ❤️

At the back of the station a 30 second walk away there is a Tobey carvery/travel lodge. Probably easier to park there and then meet her at the back exit. Traffic is quieter there too.

You still have to pay there though. Fingers crossed the lifts are working for you. If they are coming from London it is step free access from platform out on the Redstone Hill side, although no official waiting there either.

She's coming from Aldershot. It says platform 0 on National Rail (not v helpfully). Will it come on the platform nearest the main exit? I'm a bit worried if there's two exits she might go out the wrong one

There is a platform 0 which is the platform nearest the front exit for the station. Not sure if it is step free though. Tell her to head out towards the main ticket office as you can park just outside in the pick up/ drop off bays.

LIZS · 02/04/2023 19:48

No it is not step free but there is a lift straight down to the main exit foyer.

Can she get off at the next stop - Reigate? You'll find it much easier to pick up from there?
