Things to do near Buckie Scotland

We have a week booked in Buckie for September.

We stayed in Muir of ord 2 years ago and absolutely fell in love. We wanted to come back to a similar area but not the exact same place.
Does anyone have any recommendations of things to do, places to eat etc. Just me and my partner, both 25, no kids. But we will have the dogs.

We are happy to travel each day, if we can, and love walking. We will have our long-awaited puppy with us who will be just under 5 months at the time so no guarantee they will be a happy traveller, obviously won't be able to do crazy strenuous walks and relaxed dining is probably for the best as we obviously cannot leave them in the accommodation alone at any point.

However, we are happy for all suggestions and will filter them as appropriate. Also happy to go back to some places again.

Places we visited and loved last time:

  • Ullapool
  • Rogie Falls
  • Dornoch
  • Tain
  • Golspie
  • Fort Augustus
  • Rocpool at Inverness for dinner

We live in Northumberland and love the coast and hills. Favourite places include Amble, Rothbury, Cresswell, Alnwick, Blyth south beach, Tynemouth, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh. Just to give an idea of what we like.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Buckie up by Erskine? Have a look on Fb group/page 'help what am I going to do today' as that should have some good ideas!

Not been there for a while but recommendations would include
Cafe Coull for good soup at lunchtime Linda’s fish and chips in Cullen
The Galley in Whitehills, also for lunch

Not great choice of places to eat out for dinner in Buckie itself.

lovely beach in Cullen plus ice cream shop as noted above.
Seafield Arms used to be good. Closed for years but I think has now reopened.
for days out - Spey Bay and dolphins, river system. There used to be a dolphin watching boat went out from Buckie Harbour - may still do so.
Banff also has great beach and good walks.
Findlater Castle - ruined, very low key but fascinating none the less.

Sandend, in between Cullen and Portsoy, is my favourite bit along that coast. The beach is lovely and the harbour is really picturesque. You can do surfing lessons there, though maybe not with dogs!
The old outdoor pools at Tarlair are interesting to wander around. I think they’ve got funding to do it up a bit, I’m not sure if that’s started yet.
And Peterhead Prison museum is really good.

Spey Bay. I could watch the river meeting the sea for hours.
Tarlair baths at Macduff are interesting.
Pennan village.
The Knowes Hotel at Macduff did great meals when we were there in 2020.
Gordon Castle Estate - the gardens are lovely (and has a cafe).
