Ireland to Glastonbury

I have always wanted to visit Glastonbury for the historical sights and the new age shops there. It would just be for about 3 days as I imagine we would have everything seen then! So nearest airport to Glastonbury is Bristol. Is there a regular bus service from airport to Bristol city? And how do we get from Bristol then to Glastonbury? For accommodation we plan to stay in the travel lodge outside Glastonbury. Any help would be really appreciated 😊

The airport bus from the airport to Bristol is frequent, not sure about at night. The takes you to Temple Meads station and it is a short walk to bus stop for Street which stops at Glastonbury. I think it is about 90 minutes on the bus from Bristol to Glastonbury and buses run about every 40 minutes or so.

I don't know where the travel lodge is so can't help with that.

I've just had a look and I think the bus from Bristol stops near the travel lodge.

I love Glastonbury. Walking up to the Tor, the Chalice Well and all the crystal shops and stuff..... Have a great time!

I think that you would be able to do Glastonbury in an afternoon. It's a small town and once you've climbed the Tor and looked at the view the only thing is to come back down again and leave.

Bristol Airport is a long way outside the south side of the city and about half way to Glastonbury anyway. Have a look at Google maps to get an idea of distances involved and locations.
The nearest railway station is Castle Cary and that's a fair old trek to Glastonbury (its the station the festival goers use and then hike the last bit to Worthy Farm)

Are you confused or am I?
The OP is talking about the town not the festival, which is in Pilton. You can't just randomly turn up to visit the cider bus or the pyramid stage.

I do agree though, you can do the town and the tor in a day.

Lots more to Glastonbury than the Tor though it does depend what you're into, it's not a destination for those who like the bright lights... but if the Chalice Well World Peace Garden, one of the most interesting abbey's in England, quirky bookshops and more New age outlets than you care to shake a stick at appeal, you'll love it. You could always combine it with a visit to Clarks Village nearby in Street and a trip to Wells. Everything will take a long time without a car though so don't be in a hurry 🙂 There are some gorgeous buildings and a couple of very decent pubs and cafés, and if the hundred monkeys is still there it certainly used to serve decent food in a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. There are other alternative things to visit but unless you're into the wildly spiritual you might not have heard of them or be interested.

Taxi is £50 which is what I do.
