Female Lone Traveller - Darlington Train Station Parking?

Is there anyone who frequents this station that can tell me the safest place for a nervous female to park? Last time I visited here I parked in a Car Park that was slightly undercover, I went down some steps, through a short tunnel and up steps to the platform. It was quite busy so I wasn't to worried but I will be travelling later next time and if its deserted I will panic! I noticed there is an open Car Park on the other side of the station but not sure if that requires walking further in tunnels if my train is on the smaller Car Park side? My ideal is to park as close as possible but without having to go through any quiet tunnels if I can!

Need to take the car. Thanks!

That litte tunnel is perfectly safe and there is CCTV but it's a short stay carpark so only suitable for doing pickups. The longstay carpark on the other side of the tracks has a bridge over to the station.

What time is your departure and what time is your return?

We use the open car park (formerly a cattle market!) which is over the other side of the road from the Victoria Road entrance. (You go up the stairs to reach the platform). We always use this one (live just outside D'ton) and have never had any issues.
