DH & I in May, 2 nights.

Done Bristol & Portsmouth. Cotswolds looks pricey. Quite fancy Canterbury but open to suggestions. Would like to stay in cosy pub/Hotel, with pubs, nice walks and attractions nearby ( National Trust if poss).

Thanks 😊

Folkstone was lovely. We stayed there for two nights overlooking the sea, and having some lovely seaside walks and then packed up the hotel, drove 30 minutes to Canterbury and spent the last day there before coming home. Highly recommend both.

Margate

I’d suggest Cambridge. It’s well-located for National Trust properties - it’s close to Wimpole Hall, Anglesey Abbey and Wicken Fen. The latter is especially lovely for walks and they have bike hire too. There’s also a lovely walk from Cambridge along the river and through the meadows to Grantchester.

Weymouth I'd lovely.

Canterbury - you can also visit Dover and Deal. Get the train to Margate or Whitstable.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. We will definitely be driving and have been to Liverpool before. Folkestone sounds great @Barleysugar86. Where did you stay?

Kent has some great NT places - Bodiam castle , Sissinghurst castle gardens , Scotney and Chartwell to name a few .

We stayed at the Westward Ho! Hotel, right by the lower leas coastal park. It had a nice walk with sea views that you can take all the way into town/ the harbour. Basic hotel but comfortable. The coastal park also had an amazing kids play area in if you are taking any.
