Help me plan legoland Windsor resort

Hi we are having a much needed 1 night break in the legoland Windsor resort. Are there any top tips please and also any discount codes etc we can look out for. We want to stay in one of the Lego hotels. Have always avoided as have heard about long queues but have an odd inset day so utilising that. Thank you.

100% book the resort hotel. The swimming pool is in that one ( it’s fab) as well as the main entertainment area. BUT you should book dinner in the Castle hotel or get a taxi into Windsor for pizza (I’ve heard of so many people doing the latter that they ought to lay on a coach!).

We went last year when the kids had an odd INSET day.
We stayed in the Legoland Hotel as it was cheaper than The Castle.
My tips:
Make sure you arrive before 10am so you can check in to the hotel & get your special fast passes - these allow you fast pass access on to all rides between 10am-11am on all days you are hotel guests - so that includes the day you check in & the day you check out.
Definitely recommend booking your breakfast on the second day as we didn't realise you had to & ended up having the choice of either really early or late - which would have eaten into our fast pass time.
The food in the Legoland hotel is ok - but I hear The Castle is better but again make sure you book in advance.
Be aware the park may close earlier in the week than weekends (5pm rather than 7pm) & plan your evening meal/entertainment accordingly.
Unless you're super organised & take a picnic, food in the park is pretty meh - standard them park food. Again, advise pre booking is possible. However there is a largish Tesco in Windsor, as well as restaurants etc so you could by sandwiches or even go out of the park for lunch.
The hotel pool is small but lovely - but numbers are strictly limited & adhered to - so book in advance.
Breakfast is provided (book in advance) & was ok - not the best I've had or the worst.
You can park in the hotel car park which is the opposite end of the site to the main car park & entrance - you can leave your car in that car park for the entire stay.
When planning your day remember you will be accessing the park from the opposite end (Mythica end) so if you want to do specific rides in your free fast pass hour, work out the best routes to them.
Download the app as this gives you info on ride times, locations of toilets, water & refill stops & food/drink outlets.
The shows are good so try & see a few whilst you're there.
If the weather is going to be sunny & warm enough the Splash Play Areas will be open - these are fab but for kids only. One is for younger kids, the other for older ones. But if one is closed they can use the other. Changing facilities are very limited though, so go prepared with towels, changes of clothes etc.

When are you planning on going OP? Depending on the time of year certain rides may be closed.

redspottedmug · 03/02/2023 09:06

Agree, some of the wet rides (the most fun!) can be closed if it's too cold.

When we have stayed, we took lunch for the first day, then ate at the hungry troll the 2nd day (but still had own pringles / snacks). If going there for food, get there before 12 as starts getting busy then. Is slightly more expensive than the hot dog stall, but is fresh and hot fish/fish bits and chips. Highly recommend flight of sky lion, but does get long queues so useful to use fast pass. Also ninjago ride good - gets busy too. Neither are rollercoaster type rides. Agree with prebooking any meals asap at the hotel to get good time slots. The pirate show was good when we went. How old are your DC?

Thanks for the tips. We are going mid march.

Stayed in the Castle hotel, loved it.
Swimming pool in Castle hotel was good.

When in the park try and do it backwards (furthest away then make your way back to the front) to get more rides in. Failing that get the QBot things - they were brilliant but you might not need them on a quiet day.

We’ve stayed twice, all good except once waited over 90 mins for some pizzas from the pizza place thing 😲😲😲 couldn’t even get to a member of staff because of the queue and staff from the other restaurant were like ‘we can’t help’ 😄 awful, ended up deliverooing some dinner!

But other than that pretty straightforward!

We stayed in the Castle Hotel in December. We had a fully themed room and it was absolutely worth it. Kids loved it. As others have said, pre-book your swimming, meals etc. We had park entry on our second day and booked to swim before our check-in time the day previously.

in terms of tactics I would definitely suggest being by the gate when they open it and heading straight for the Flight of the Skylion. After that, use the hour free fast pass to do 'big' rides like Ninjago, Driving School and the Monster House Party. We went in a fairly quiet day and these were still the rides that gained queues. You may well get back on them later, but if you've done them, there's no pressure to queue.

For our second day, we made sure everyone had a big breakfast at the hotel, but took lots of crackers, crisps, easy-store fruit etc to keep the kids going, then bought a meal after leaving, which saved a lot of money.

enjoy your trip!

Yes, so you can't access your room till after 4pm but you can register & get your fast passes etc. leave your bags in the hotel car park & go back for them later.

Thanks @APurpleSquirrel that’s very useful to know 👍🏻

We’re going to the castle hotel in April. Booked ages ago to get it at the lowest price (still high).

I have got reserve and ride although expensive because we just want to have a nice time and not be queuing all day - DS probably has ADHD (being assessed) but wouldn’t be in a position to provide medical evidence at the moment. I was advised on here that the free hour of R and R doesn’t really go very far!

Will be booking swimming and restaurants well in advance.

Will also bring a packed lunch on the first day but buy lunch on the second.

+1 Castle Hotel - https://hotellook.tp.st/I9Z8FcDZ Excellent food and service and clean comfy room and after I asked for a new mattress for the pull out bed the staff were only too happy to sort this out for us. Would highly recommend. Great location too and very near to both legoland and great Windsor Park. Parking very easy too and very accessible. My daughter loved it too.
