Harry Potter studios hotel and what to do near by

Booked tickets for Harry Potter, but feel a bit lost looking for hotels regarding where best to stay.

We had planned to travel up the day before and stay near by. Not really bothered about going into london as have done this quite a bit.

Hotel recommendations for a family of 5 (accept we may need to book two rooms)

Also any recommendations of what to do near by or on the way. Coming from Somerset so anything on the way or near Harry Potter that would suit a family (children aged 10,11,16)

Thank you

The Grove is nearby and v family friendly.

When are you going?
We’ve stayed at Home Farm Glamping (the yurts sleep 5) but they don’t open for the season until mid April. When we went to Hogwarts in the Snow, we stayed in the large family suite at The Olde King’s Arms in Hemel Hempstead.
If your dc are quite sporty, they might like Ninja Warrior Adventure Park, and there’s an indoor snow centre in Hemel Hempstead which has tobogganing and tubing (great fun!)
You’ll also be going right past Windsor, so visiting the castle is another possibility.

Glamping is a great idea but we are going early April.

Grove hotel was coming up as £1300 - am I missing something 😂

There's nothing much nearby, but probably plenty on the way - Windsor etc. Don't know about hotels as we are fairly local. We ate at Costco as a treat when we went 😂

Indoor ski slope?

Stay in St Albans and visit the park? Are you driving?

emmathedilemma · 25/01/2023 11:25

There's a Premier Inn Watford North

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/01/2023 11:26

We always stayed at the PI in Watford.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 29/01/2023 22:33

We are staying at PI and visiting Bletchley Park on the way. Coming from a different direction to you so not sure if that would work. DD is doing WWII at school so it will be ideal for her.

We stayed in the premier Inn Watford. Pretty much everyone at breakfast was obviously going to HP! only 5 min drive away. We didn't do much else but did spend a couple of hours in the shopping centre in Watford the afternoon before.

The grove is lovely but a really expensive luxury choice.

PI is fine with kids and local.

There’s loads to do within an hour or so drive- depends on the age of the kids-
RAF museum Hendon?
wendover woods?
natural history museum Tring
st Albans cathedral + shopping

Another one for Premier Inn Watford. Ideally situated.
