Looking for somewhere nice for two middle aged people to spend a couple of days by the sea.
Travelling from the Midlands.
Any suggestions please?

We are big Dorset fans, so I vote Lyme Regis or Weymouth. Perhaps a bit of a trek depending on where you are in the Midlands!

Or swanage for steam trains and corfe castle!

Woeman · 15/01/2023 19:58

From the midlands, Llandudno or Aberystwyth.

Northumberland is hard to beat - Alnmouth, Bamborough, Amble, Warkworth (almost on the coast) etc. Whitby, RHB and Sandsend if you fancy N Yorkshire.

Margate
Southend
Whitby if not too far from Midlands
Lymington
Brighton
Conwy would be doable from Midlands

Alnmouth

Formby

We love Pembrokeshire and the Cardigan coast. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Just lovely.

Tenby. Lots of nice bars and restaurants all year around.
Can recommend this apartment

"Seaside" is quite a wide brief. What do you like? Arcades? Fossil hunting? Pier? Quiet coves?

Tenby and Saundersfoot are nice. Or places on the Gower peninsula. Or Barmouth. The beaches of Norfolk are also very reachable from you and very beautiful.

We visit Llandudno quite a bit as we have family near there but it wouldn't be on my list for what you have in mind. Conwy's quite nice though.

Wales - Mumbles and Tenby.

England - Lyme Regis, Swanage, Dawlish

Curledupwithagoodbook · 15/01/2023 22:18

Also.... Southwold or Aldeburgh.

Riverlee · 15/01/2023 22:25

Whistable - nice coastal town

And isn't far from Southport, not as nice as Llandudno but great for a day trip
