Hello, heading to the Scarlet hotel in April for our first ever break without the dc. Very very excited! Would really appreciate recommendations for restaurants/walks/must sees especially a restaurant for a celebratory meal. We love good food and walks and will have our car with us.

The Scarlet is gorgeous! You can easily spend a couple of days without driving anywhere at all. The gardens lead to a path directly down to the beach, which is massive at low tide. There are walks up the cliffs in both directions from the hotel - we walked towards Watergate Bay last time. Great views.

We ate at Emily Scott's - it's only a few minutes away in a car, right by the Watergate Bay Hotel. We enjoyed it, but didn't feel it was better than the food at the Scarlet and probably wouldn't go again.

Obviously the hotel also has the spa facilities - the cliff top hot tub is memorable. I'm an indoor pool kind of person, but the outdoor pool is very attractive and bracing if you're brave. I haven't had a treatment there, so can't comment on that.

We love it there (lucky enough to to have been twice). Very relaxing just looking out at the stunning view across the bay.

Bedruthan Steps is very nearby and has Dark Star Discovery status, so it’s a lovely place to go stargazing if you get a clear evening. It’s also got a few nice walks. This is one of my favourites.
I’d also recommend driving to Padstow and taking the ferry across to Rock. There’s a restaurant there at the St Enodoc hotel which has the most amazing views.

Paul Ainsworth’s No6 is one of the best reasons to visit Cornwall.

OP have you had your stay at the Scarlet yet? Would love to hear how you found it.
