London Uber: Airbags in rear seats

Hi

I regularly travel with my 2 year old toddler in London Uber as I don't have my own car. For that I bring my own forward facing child seat which goes into the rear seat behind the driver.

As we all know, child seats must never be used when there's an active airbag. I'm wondering how common it is for London Uber cars to have airbags in the rear seats that need to be deactivated by the driver at the start of the journey? In the past I have asked a few Uber drivers to switch off the airbags in the rear but usually they don't know what I'm talking about. Appreciate that Uber comes with many different car models, but wondering how commonly airbags in the rear would be an issue.

Thanks!

ROSPA don't seem to think its an issue at all. Most cars don't have rear air bags.

They do however advise placing your car seat behind the passenger seat rather than behind the driver.

That's reassuring. Thanks for the reply!
