Child friendly campsite in Somerset/Devon/Dorset

Hello campers 👋

I am looking for recommendations for a family friendly campsite in Somerset, Devon or Dorset for our first camping adventure with a child in tow (i.e. Close enough to home to do a midnight flit if it's a complete disaster!)

Open to anything - holiday park, farm, empty field etc.

Essentials:
Electric hook up
Toilets and shower block

Wish list:
Play area
Outdoorsy stuff for a 4 year old (e.g. a stream to paddle in, or a beach nearby)
Ability to pick pitch location

Any top tips also welcome, it's been a long time since we went camping and first time with a child.

Thank you 😊

If you could be persudaed to stretch the area a bit, this is the best campsite ever for young children:

That looks perfect! 2.5hrs from us though, not close enough for a trial run (child I'd autistic so could be a total disaster!) but definitely one to book if camping holidays are doable, thank you.

It could be a disaster BUT if your child has an interest in animals it could be superb! When that bell rings in the morning children emerge from tents all over the fields - if they are not already waiting around the guinea pigs hutches in anticipation that is!
DD1 is 21 and DD2 18 and they still talk about the holidays there (the village close to the site is also full of lovely residents and businesses).
Good luck.

This place is brilliant - www.awayresorts.co.uk/parks/dorset/east-fleet-farm/

It’s just outside of Weymouth so good for the beach/Sea Life centre etc. There’s a well stocked shop, food trucks that change daily (fish & chips, wood fired pizzas etc), on site pub/cafe and a really good play area.

River Dart Country Park is good. Has proper family bathrooms, amazing play opportunities, no need to cook as lots on site etc.

Cofton has everything you could possibly need plus more. It’s a bit hard to find the page about the standard grass pitches on their website so here’s the link: www.coftonholidays.co.uk/accommodation/campsites-devon/grass-pitches/
Alston Farm is smaller and doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but it’s still a lovely friendly site with a decent play area and a stream to splash in.

We went a wonderful campsite in Dorset called Acton Fields when ours were little. It's quite back to basics but clean, beautiful view of the sea, near Swanage, Corfe Castle and Studland Bay, and has a bakery van in the mornings which was the best thing ever - he was known as the doughnut man by all the kids on the campsite.
