I'm taking my 9 year old niece to see Matilda (Cambridge Theatre) in 2 weeks for a birthday treat and she's asked to go for a Chinese meal beforehand, has anyone been anywhere good recently, have been wading through online reviews but it's so hard to know if they're genuine!

We always go for dim sum at Joy King Lau in Chinatown, v tasty and good fun choosing things.

HanSB · 01/12/2022 22:45

@cushionfiend Joy King Lau closed down in the summer, so sad after 30 years!

We usually go to Golden Phoenix for Chinese food, the dim sum is particularly good but I think finishes at 5pm or Gold Mine for roast duck

cushionfiend · 01/12/2022 22:53

@HanSB Oh, I'm so confused now because we ate there a couple of weeks ago! Or at least I thought we did! But I can see loads of articles online about them closing... did we maybe go through a time warp or something???

HanSB · 02/12/2022 00:02

@cushionfiend maybe it was rescued and under new management?

cushionfiend · 02/12/2022 07:44

@HanSB Yes, looks like it was - there are v recent reviews on Trip Advisor and one mentions new management. Phew, I haven't lost my mind!

Always Joy King Lau! So pleased to hear it’s reopened.
