Is the commute from Northallerton to York ok?

Hello,

Currently living in County Durham but have wanted to move to North Yorkshire for quite a while. Thinking of Northallerton. Anyway, applied for a job in York (would be a nice pay rise) and I’ve been called up for an interview. Manager seems very keen (we have spoken on the phone) and I have all of the experience/qualifications etc. that they’re looking for so looking good!

Daughter in her GCSE years and her school has a bus that goes to and from Northallerton each day (plus her best friend also catches the same bus) so it means I could do this without disrupting her education.

I believe it’d be easier to get the train from Northallerton to York rather than drive. I checked on Trainline and there are trains that take less than 20 minutes. Sounds ok! Does anyone do this commute and is it ok?

I did this comute for 6months . It was fine because it was only for 6 months. The train pass coat arround £800 for 3 months. It will be more now as that was 10 years ago!!

How near will you be to the station?

It's expensive but yes the train is usually fine.

Will you be close to station at both ends? I'd be more worried about that bit tbh.

I’ll look for a house close to the station. At York it’s about a 20 minute walk from the station.
