Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced hotel near Shadwell Station? Thanks!

Why do you want to stay in Shadwell? It's not particularly nice.
I'd look for a hotel near Aldgate East, which is just up the road, or around the Tower of London. Much nicer.

I need to be able to get to Tobacco dock but the hotels near are expensive so thought I'd try a little way out, so I'm happy to try anywhere I can get to Tobacco Dock.

I’d stay in either the Travelodge London Central Tower Bridge or Premier Inn Tower Hill if you want a budget option. Close to Tower Gateway DLR, so one stop to Shadwell, and although not the nicest location ever, it’s far better than Shadwell itself. Other hotels are nearby but they’re generally a lot more expensive.

I’d avoid staying in Shadwell. I used to walk through there every day on my commute and it’s not nice.

There’s a holiday inn in Limehouse which is only 2 minutes on the DLR.

Have you looked at hotels in Canary Wharf? It’s only 4 stops/10 mins away on the DLR but a good selection of hotels.

The Wapping side of Tobacco dock is ok but it's not a particularly touristy area to have lots of accommodation options. If it's a weekend then hotels in Canary Wharf area can be relatively cheap as they don't get the business travellers like they do in the week. Or the by the Excel centre (Prince Regent or Custom House on the DLR) if there's nothing big on there. They're all an easy journey on the DLR to Shadwell.

Thanks for the advice - it is for a midweek conference next year, looks like Shadwell is a no no 😁
