Longleat ..where to roundabout

Looking to book a week down near Longleat although don't mind if that close by just close enough ( that make sense)..to base ourselves somewhere where we can travel all round and see the sights. Travelling from Scotland..self catering would be great with pool and play area?? Not really sure what else to see round about...haven't really got map out yet so any advice is greagtly appreciated! TIA

there's a Center Parcs right next door (expensive though for school holiday time though your hols might be different)

I did wonder about the thread title. Very odd.

We stayed in a fab cottage on a farm, about 30 mins from longleat. It has it's own garden with play equipment and a gorgeous outdoor pool. Wasn't expensive, and the owners were lovely - welcoming but not in your face. Will try to find link for you.

We did 2 days at longleat, 1 at lyme regis, 1 on the coast somewhere near Weston Super Mare, 1 at glastonbury, stonehenge etc. good central location for all that stuff.

It's here and the most exciting thing is, my DS is on one of the photos at Longleat (stroking a lizardy thing)! They asked us if we had any photos of longleat that they could use and i'd forgotten all about it.

ooh and DD and me are on the maze pic - i'm the fat one with the rucksack and she's right in the middle of the maze. fame at last!
