Hello!

Dh birthday so am trying to book a weekend away in December.
I've come across a place just outside Wrexham but am wondering if anyone can recommend any places to visit please before i book it?! Ideally not too far of a drive away. We have a ds who is 5. I have attempted to book the santa train at llangollen but sadly the customer service was shocking when I asked a few questions regarding my sons disability so will not be going there!

Thank you kindly!

You could have a day out at Erddig or Chirk Castle, National Trust properties. You're not a million miles away from Chester Zoo that have obviously the zoo, but also the Christmas Lanterns evening activity. Chester Christmas market and the Storyhouse theatre. The Ice Cream Farm is nearby which I'm sure your 5 year old would love.
Depending on exactly where you're heading I can recommend pubs for a child friendly dinner.

Thank you for the reply!
We visit Chester alot anyway so I was trying to avoid there. I should have said that in my first post sorry!
It's a place called Eyton.
I've emailed a railway to see if the steam train will be running in December.

Ah ok, assuming you're starting at The Plassey which has lots of things to do. You could try Hawkstone Follies which has a wonderful Christmas Experience or the Bolesworth Estate have Christmas activities.
The Polar Express operates from Telford Steam Railway and that is fantastic although expensive.
Like all these railways they're operated by volunteers so their customer service is not always what you might expect from a traditional business, that's maybe what's happening with Llangollen.

Follies looks great but £155 😳

Bolesworth Estate looks good though thank you and tickets available still for that weekend!

Is there much in Oswestry do you know?

Park Hall Farm is great for kids and the British Ironwork Centre are both near Oswestry.

The Pontcysyllte Viaduct is a nice walk too.

Hawkstone follies is often on Groupon for less than £10 pp.
