Half a day in Liverpool. What shall we do?

Stopping off on the way to holiday so we will have a morning in central Liverpool. Four adults, two pre-teens.
What shall we do? Just wander and take a ferry or is it worth doing something specific?

There are some good ideas on another thread about a weekend there with older kids but I wondered what you would recommend if you only had half a day.🙂

The tour of the Liver building (interesting and great views from the top) and the Maritime museum. A few minutes walk from each other.

Bear in mind a lot may be closed. But yes the docks are lovely

Showmethebagels · 19/09/2022 08:29

The Museum of Liverpool is good. Lunch in Bold St.

ChristmasJumpers · 19/09/2022 08:45

Ghetto golf is fun if you're not after a museum

PENNYOD · 19/09/2022 08:49

Hi you could take them on the Beatles tour around penny lane, there are bus tours and taxi tours. Ferry also is a good shout. Plus the cathedrals are amazing and if you go to the top you can see all of Liverpool.

I would wander around the docks and the 3 Graces and grab lunch there or at Baltic market or duke st market (both fab food halls). A ferry from the pier head would be interesting.
m there’s about 5 different museums in town, Beatles, Museum of Liverpool and the Maritime and Slavery museum are all excellent and all on the docks pretty much. All free bar the Beatles.

Liverpool one is good for a wander and shopping.

going up the Anglican cathedral on a good day weather wise gives amazing views

enjoy

Do go on the ferry.

If you're going on the Ferry there's a lovely place called Moose for breakfast that's nearby. It's amazing.

Thanks all. Lots of good ideas. I'll talk it over and we can decide what to do depending on the weather nearer the time 😊.

Another vote the Royal Liver 360 tour, plus an hour or two around the Albert Dock which is literally a couple of minutes away.

If there’s time I would do both Cathedrals which are on either end of a street called Hope. Have a great time.

Western Approaches is another good museum.

We really enjoyed the Tate Gallery - particularly the psychadelic floor - which had lots of mind bending exhibits and an illusory floor.

Do go on the ferry.

You will get that stupid fucking song stuck in your head all day if you do

Knowsley Safari Park
Williamson Tunnels
Bold street for food, Bombed out church and two cathedrals are within walking distance or Lark lane for food and the park but its a short drive

Now I forgot about one of Liverpool hidden gems
You can have a speed boat trip around the Albert Dock area, they will tell you all about the history etc, and if you are up for it they will take you around a dock with no speed limit it was fantastic!

Wrap up warm as its cold

So many good ideas guys 😀.
I think we will see how the weather is but hopefully do a ferry trip then try to see the views from one of the buildings mentioned. Then plan another trip to spend a few days in the city later on.
