London with DS 16 - East London

Hi
I could do with some pointers from those more familiar with London.

My 16-year-old son and I are coming to London for the weekend in a few weeks. He is into clothes, sports and history. I thought one day East London and one day more central.

Would it be better going east on the Saturday or the Sunday? We are staying near the London Eye.

I have booked Thames Rockets for this Saturday and was planning Churchhill War rooms on the Sunday but these dates can be switched.

East London wise, here is my vague list although I know there is a lot on it so we won’t get to all of it!

Spitalfields market
Brick Lane
Classic football shirts
Mr sneaker Bethnal Green/Sneakersnstuff shoreditch
Bagels?
Aldgate
Leadenhall market
Box park shoreditch
Shoreditch street art

Any thoughts ? Would we be better doing this on the Sunday? I was thinking Saturday for the football shirts and trainers shops…

Anything really good I’ve missed East or West? I thought about maybe doing the Gunpowder immersive experience near the Tower.

Thanks!

Spitalfields, Brick Lane, the Boxpark, Classic Football Shirts,SnS, bagels and street art are all really close together. Not sure I'd bother with Leadenhall unless there's a specific reason to go.

Bethnal Green is a bit of a detour unless you are really likely to buy something at Mr Sneaker. It's v pricey. SnS is way better IMO. Near Spitalfields you also have Offspring and adidas if you're looking for trainers. If he likes expensive designer branded clothing it's worth looking in DPUS at Truman Brewery. They do Stone Island, CP, Off-white, Palm Angels etc at discounted prices.

I don't think it makes much difference what day you go.

If you're going to Spitalfields, Brick Lane etc, then Sunday is the day to go. Way more places open, more market stalls, more streetfood, just MORE! Sunday has always been THE day in that area. (I live nearby - and have done for almost 30 years).

No idea why you want to go to Aldgate...it's not what you'd consider to be a must-visit destination. I also wouldn't bother with Leadenhall Market.

Check when West Ham are playing, avoid the area near Stratford when they are.
