Confused due to visitor visa duration error on covering letter

Hello, I am a british national and I have recently applied for my parents to join me here in uk for a visit through a solicitor. Due to some confusion the solicitor stated that my family is here for 4 weeks time and he has submitted the application, but I want them here for 8-10 weeks time. Now the Solicitor is saying is doesn't matter whatever time we state on the covering letter as long as they're staying within their visa permitted period. Can you please help me here? Will staying 8 weeks rather than 4 weeks mentioned in the visa application would be problematic for further visa applications? My mother has already been to UK for 2 weeks time a couple of years back.

I wouldn't take visa advice off an online forum to be honest, but if your application has been sent off do you have a number you can ring to rectify the mistake? I feel your solicitor is better placed to advise though.

Your solicitor is correct in that it doesn't matter as long as your family leaves while the visa is valid. However, there is a small possibility that your family could be issued with a visa that doesn't have the standard validity period and will only be valid for four weeks, which is why the guidance states it isn't advisable to book unchangeable travel before the visa is issued.

If they are issued with the standard length visitor visa, then your family can stay as long as the visa is valid. The only thing that would cause an issue is an overstay.
