Hi can anyone tell me what’s the best way to get from Luton airport to London city centre? Busses/trains times etc.

we are travelling from Dublin and I have no clue, so all tips welcome.

If you go onto the airport's website and go to 'arriving' there are massive great big huge links showing you the routes available to you.

Thank you all! I’ve went onto a few websites and found them all useful.

The airport website is usually the best starting point for onward travel info when you go anywhere new.

There is a free bus service from the airport down to Luton Parkway station, to get the trains to London. There are fast trains to St Pancras, which just stop at a few stations, which may include Harpenden and St Albans. Then, there are the slow trains, which stop at every station. Say the slow train came in first, and five minutes later, the fast train comes in - it is better to wait five more minutes for the fast train, as it will get to St Pancras before the slow train.

However, if a train comes in, with plenty of empty seats, then it can be worth getting that train to sit down all the way; than it is to risk the next train being full and standing all the way! Depends what time of day you are travelling, but certainly something to bear in mind in rush hour! However, trains shouldn’t be too full at Luton. They fill up more at Harpenden and St. Albans!

We always feel sorry for foreigners, arriving at London Luton, as it’s 30 miles from London and Thameslink is not a cheap line - compared say to Geneva airport, which provides free tickets for the trains to the city!
