Where do you recommend in the Lake District or Yorkshire? What are the best castles and museums?

We have a nearly 3 year old so need to do things just for them as well. What are the best parks/playparks? Any fun woodland trails? Farms?
Don't mention the pencil museum.

Joking aside, the waterfalls walk at Ingleton is great. Malham tarn is lovely too. Bolton Abbey is nice (but does get busy).
Haworth has Cobbles and Clay - pottery painting cafe, which my kids love.

Penrith Castle in the Lakes is fab, gorgeous walks and a brilliant park. As others have said there's lots to do in Bowness... Beatrix Potter, boat on the lake or even just walk along and feed the swans, the walk to Orrest head is lovely but not strenuous.

If you did Yorkshire Dales, not far from the Ingleton waterfall trail mentioned above is White Scar Cave which is a brilliant trip.
