Going to see wicked the show in march and looking for a near by hotel. Dont know this area at all . Recommendations please. Is it easy enough to travel from the west end as we want to shop too or should we stay near the show and travel to the shops.

Look on lastminute.com for central london hotels. It will be expensive though.

I staye din Malmaison last year and would highly recommend. No idea if that's anywhere close to theatre though.

There are lot's of cheap b&bs and 2/3* hotels near Victoria. A friend stayed at the Victoria Inn and IMO is ok ok and not too expensive. there are also quite a few restaurants near the area.

If you are watching the show in the evening I would recomend staying near the Theatre. On the shopping front there are plenty of buses from Victoria Station to Oxford Street, Covent Garden etc.

If you are looking for a proper hotel there is a City Inn near the Houses of Parliament and the Jolly St Ermin near St James' Park. There are also other hotels near Victoria Station and lastminutes is prob your best bet.

On another note, the show is fantastic, I watched it twice and loved it.
