Half a day Dorset / Somerset / Devon

Hi MNers, I wonder if anyone familiar with the Dorset / Somerset / Devon areas can help.

In September DH and I will be arriving in Poole by sea around 1pm, heading to stay with friends just over the Devon border. We don't need to be there until the evening (6/7pm) so I'm thinking of a mini-road trip or going a very long way round to see some of an area neither of us have been to before.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice scenic route, or a nice place to spend an hour or two along the way?

DH expressed an interest in seeing Stonehenge the other day, does that sound feasible at all?

We live on a coastal island and will be going to the beach at Lyme Regis over the weekend, so we'd prefer to look at the kind of rolling countryside that we don't have here Smile

Thanks in advance.

I’d go via Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door

Oh great shout! For some reason I'd always assumed Durdle Door was in Cornwall Blush

We also have a little time on the way back to Poole will definitely pay a visit there one way or the other.

Thanks

Stonehenge would be out of your way, you could go to Corfe Castle.

Out of our way isn't a problem, so long as it's not a ridiculous de-tour.

We don't live in England and I'm from the North so all visits generally are the Yorkshire / Lancashire / County Durham areas.

Who knows when we'll be in the South West again, so an hour or so to a place of interest isn't a problem.

Will look at Castle Corfe though Smile

Hi. Due to domestic violence myself and my children were moved from the area I had lived my whole life and placed in Exeter. Since then my ex husband attacked 2 other women and is in prison for a very long time ( maybe if the Judge had believed me these 2 women wouldn't have had the chance to be attacked but that's a whole other story ). I am desperate to be back in Dorset as my parents and brother are there. Bournemouth Council don't want to know so I am trying for a mutual exchange. God that's hard work. I have been contacted by a few people but the areas were rough. Now a lady has contacted me from Lyme Rwgis. It's a lovely 2 bed house but I am.disabled and will need a stairlift. I spoke to both my social landlord & theirs and they say it's likely I will be refused the swap but they won't tell me until after the inspections and 42 day period. Surely that's not fair, especially on the lady in Lyme Regis. I can get a Disabled Facilities Grant but the council have to contribute a percentage and they are not happy about doing that. Should I just pull out the swap. Lyme Regis seems lime such a lovely town. I hope it is anyway. I will be heartbroken & so will the other woman if this cannot go ahead. Thanks in advance for any advice x
