Autumn weekend in Cardiff?

I'm thinking about a weekend in Cardiff, probably October, for a group of women in our 50s. Ideal would be a nice spa hotel and we are potentially up for any cultural event, museum friendly, walking. Any recommendations?

St Davids in the Bay is nice. Can get the water bus from there into the centre. The castle and museum in the centre are worth a visit. The museum has a great collection of impressionist paintings.

The bay is also good for walking and the Millennium centre in the bay has lots of good shows.

Also St Fagan’s Museum of Welsh life up the road is excellent, it’s a collection of restored buildings, you can do end the day there easily.

It is ok. I probably live too close to think of it as a place to go to for a weekend. Some nice eateries and bars. Can be rough. Watch out for rugby internationals in the Autumn. I find it too crowded as the city centre is small. Takes ages to be served etc.
Ok for shopping. Some good museums. A good hotel for a spa in the centre is Park Plaza.

St David’s is nice and views from the rooms are amazing. You do have to pay extra to park. The Bay Area has nice places to eat and a good atmosphere. You can get water taxi into town or the train. Centre of Cardiff has loads of places to eat and drink and is easy to navigate for shopping.

Would you want to go the theatre? New Theatre in town centre is a lovely old place. I'm not so keen on the Millenium Centre in the Bay as a theatre. There used to be escorted "foodie" walks around the centre but maybe these stopped during covid.

Park Plaza is central and they do a lot of spa and stay deals. Have a look at their Facebook page.

Honestly I'd say St David's spa is nice but The Celtic Manor (on the way to Cardiff, just off the M4) is so much nicer. If you're happy to drive into Cardiff for visits (20 mins) then it's so worth it!
Local history - Caerleon Roman town.

But within Cardiff there's shopping, museum, water taxi to Cardiff bay with lots to see there.

I've heard good things about Lanelay Hall too.

A trip to Roath park if you fancy a walk in the fresh air - the park and the lake are beautiful and there are lots of nice places to eat around Wellfield Road.

Maybe see if there's anything on at the Millenium Centre in the Bay?

Just so you're aware xx there are some big international rugby matches coming up every weekend in November so you'll want to go before then as as it'll be heaving and hotel prices are very expensive.
