Car rentals for new drivers

Hi,

DH just got his license, we’re in London so bit late to the game. We can’t afford the parking in our building (£250 pm) so we’re looking to renting a car for the odd weekend instead of buying one. We’ve checked so many and they all require you to have had a licence for 1-2 years at least. This is a huge disappointment since he spent so much time and money learning to drive to find out he might not be able to drive for two years. We could move to a place with free parking and buy a car but we only moved here recently and don’t quite have the energy for another move again.

Sorry my question was supposed to be, does anyone know of rentals we could use?

How about Zipcar? My DS uses these all the time in London as they often work out cheaper than an Uber at busy times. Don’t know if there’s a licence requirement though - he passed at 17!

Enterprise car club, they do daily rate hires as well as short trips.

We checked zip car, you need to have a license for two years, he only has his 2 weeks! I think I checked enterprise too.

Enterprise car club is different to Enterprise car rental, read the membership info on that link.
In order to join Enterprise Car Club, you must be 19 or over. You must have had your full driving licence for 1 year if under the age of 22. If you’re 22 and over, you can join as soon as you have a full licence. There are no upper age limits.

Oh you’re right, enterprise allow new drivers to sign up!
