Wastwater/Wasdale - where should I go?

We're going to the Lake District soon and there will be one day when dh will take the rest of the family out for a big hillwalk, leaving me to entertain myself for the day. At that point we will be at staying at Wasdale Hall.

Where shall I go for that one day?

I've been to all the Wordsworth houses several times. I can't do any proper walking (else I'd be with the rest of the family) but am otherwise completely mobile. Happy to drive an hour or so.

Suggestions?

Completely missing the point but have you been the l'aal Ratty, the Eskdale to Ravenglass railway with the kids. It's lovely!

If it's for the kids then, yes, that is spectacularly missing the point! 😂 Anyway, mine are all mid teens plus. (Though dh does love a steam railway.)

Head to the coast for an explore and a change of scenery? Barrow-in-Furness has Piet island with a nice pub on it.

Drive to Seascale, eat home made ice cream at Bailey Ground ice cream parlour, read a book. Then have another ice cream.

Do you mean Mawsons or the one in Bailey Ground Hotel?

Bailey Ground ice cream parlour, just round the corner from the seaside carpark - it's got a big cow outside, you can't miss it!
