Last minute holiday in UK

We were due to travel to Portugal for a long awaited holiday (booked pre-covid) next week. However my son shattered his wrist a few days ago requiring surgery and a k-wire. Surgeon says we cannot travel abroad. I’m now looking for a caravan somewhere in the UK or Wales, preferably south so we can at least hope for some sunshine. We’re flexible with dates between 5-15 August as we have the time booked off work. Can anyone recommend a caravan or site that may have last minute availability for a family of 4 please (kids aged 12 and 9). I’ve started searching but getting lost in the possibilities. Thank you for any recommendations!

Have a look at pitched up. I've put your dates in there are a few yurts in Pembrokeshire.

Is wales not still in the U.K.??
parkdean, hoseasons and haven are the big site operators, you can usually do an open search on location to see what’s available for your dates.

Bluestone?

We have found this site to be good
www.ukcaravans4hire.com

Loads in North Wales
Haven etc
What about a Road trip / city break?
Some ideas here

I wouldn’t recommend S Wales if you want sunshine - it’s rained solidly for 2 days here and August is often poor. I’d be looking at SE England. Sandy Balls, despite the ridiculous name, appears highly regarded on MN, although I’ve not been.

We had a great UK break at Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay. I've stopped in lots of holiday parks and this is by far the best. It is immaculate, with an outdoor pool, splash park attached and the cleanest, prettiest site with new, modern caravans.

5 nights here
Then could tag on city break in Cambridge or London maybe.
Understand it's not quite Portugal!

45-60 minutes to the coast
Driving distance to the Norfolk broads and then could rent day, half day boat hire
Near Norwich, plenty to do
Near Banham Zoo
Walking distance to pub
Near Thetford forest
Tuesday evenings one of the local pubs has 2 wheel Tuesday so lots of motor bikes

This is a nice campsite and has PYO onsite which is always fun!

I’d go Norfolk/Suffolk if you want sunshine. Have a look on Hoseasons and you could get a bargain last minute break.

Pembrokeshire is Devine.
