Hi

I’m looking for some tips for my trip to London with my 16-year-old son.

So far I am looking at doing the Thames Rockets and Churchill war rooms with him (he’s into war history). I then thought possibly Brick Lane market and Spitalfields after the Thames Rockets as apparently there is a vintage football shirt shop nearby! (He’s into trainers so will be looking at some trainers shops too as his birthday is coming up.)

I am also looking at the Stranger Things or the Gunpowder plot experience.

Any tips on cool hotels/restaurants? I’m thinking maybe near the Eye for our hotel as that will be our starting point both mornings.

Thanks!

Inamo is a cool restaurant. It has interactive tables, two-player games and a chef cam. The food is quite adventurous though. I’d also suggest Meatliquor, Where The Pancakes Are, Benihana, Bodean’s BBQ and the OXO Brasserie. Boxpark Shoreditch would be a good shout when you go to Brick Lane.
Immersive Gamebox is near the Eye and is worth checking out. Also recommend a round of crazy golf at Swingers.

@Fivemoreminutes1 oh that’s great, thanks so much for that! Do you think staying near the Eye is a good base? We’re arriving into Kings Cross on the Friday evening.

You’ve got a better choice of hotels near Kings Cross and from experience they usually tend to be quieter at night, but if you’re starting both days near the Eye and if you’re son isn’t great at getting up in the mornings, then that’s probably a good plan.

Lots of restaurants around KC, so it would be a good place to stay. It's got Dishoom and Hoppers, both of which might well appeal to a 16 year old.
