Can anyone (who has been there within the past year) tell me what Butlins is like?

DS aged 4.3 really seems to want to go there. OUr nearest one is in Skegness. Anyone been? What's it like? TBH it looks like the sort of thing I would really really hate..... but could suspend my disdain if it provides good entertainment for DS.

I guess the lack of response means no-one has been there within the past year. I last went there 9 years ago (Minehead) and cried the minute I saw the room and for the duration of the holiday which we cut short.

Strangly enough, the creche was fabulous. New, clean, well-equipped, well-staffed.

However, nothing could persuade me to return. Not even if they paid me.

have been to pontins and it was awfull..... hated the accomodation....

We went to Minehead last August. Children were 7,5 and nearly 3. They loved it and want to go back this year.
I went with extra cleaning supplies, but the accomodation (Silver Plus bungalow) was very clean, but showing its age - peeling paint etc in places. We went self catering.
I thought I would hate it, but the kids were so happy and well entertained that it was fine. We were also very lucky with the weather, which helped! Neither DH nor I were really into the Redcoats getting parents up to dance etc, but we survived

Go I just don't think I could stand the enforced entertainment. I think the adverts for Butlins are so aimed at children. DS aged 4.3 demanded that I go online and order the DVD, which at the moment is his favourite viewing. Of course the DVD says nothing about what the adults are supposed to do with themselves .... . Peeling paint huh? We were thinking of going Silver self catering too.

I'm going to look at Haven because Gt Yarmouth is nearer to us anyway.
