Canal Boat Day Hire

Hi All. Looking to rent a canal boat just for a day to see how we get on with the possibility of a weekend later on. Can anyone recommend any companies please? Preferably in the south/Oxford/Guildford area. TIA

We've hired day canal boats from Farncombe Boat House in Godalming. It's a lovely stretch of river there with lots of places to picnic and swim.

I did this a few years ago now but they were very good - and do day hire with a b&b at the end of the day if you want to stay - lovely place! www.oxfordshire-narrowboats.co.uk

There are a couple of day boat hire firms near me, not far from Oxford... Take a look at Aylesbury Canal Society and also Narrowboat Day Hire. They both run self drive day hire services on the Grand Union.
And if you like it and want to try a weekend or a full week, take a look at Chiltern Canal Boat Holidays who are around the same location. Lovely narrowboats and the route takes you through the Chilterns which are stunning!

I've been on one on the Guildford navigation. Didn't book it so don't know who it was with! Sorry not much help but Google might come up with something and it's the area you were interested in.
