North East beaches with shade

I live near York and happen to have Monday/Tuesday off work. Thinking of driving to the coast for the day is it will be so warm and cooler on the coast than in the city. Anyone know of any beaches that actually have a bit of shade e.g due to high cliffs? Thanks

@Keha depending on how far you want to travel, some of the beaches at Seaham have high cliffs as does the beach between Roker and Seaburn in Sunderland. There might be some shade at Saltburn and also on Longsands in Tynemouth. They’re all east facing so will be full sun in the morning but will get shade in the afternoon.

@TattiePants Thanks for your response, I was thinking Saltburn, have never been to Seaham. Although at this rate think we might just sit in the paddling pool!

Keep away from all cliffs on the Northeast coasts. There's landslides regular people have been killed. If you want shade take a parasol for the beach.
