Alton Towers Resort

Hi, we went to Legoland last week & stayed in the hotel & had an amazing time. Now keen to try other theme parks - Alton Towers looks good because DD loves the big rides & DS will like CBeebies land.

However, looking at the Resort website, unless I'm missing something, there doesn't seem to be any advantage in staying in the resort hotels?
Park tickets aren't included; Splash park tickets aren't included, the price for just the hotel is very high - whereas staying off-park you pay less & sometimes get a days park entry included.
Am I missing something? What are the advantages to staying on the resort?

It is expensive to stay compared to other local hotels however there’s evening entertainment, themed rooms, convenient mono-rail access to the parks and you don’t have to pay for parking. The biggest benefit, though, is that you can enter the park half an hour before everyone else for Early Rider.

We've stayed a few times and it's not worth the extra money to be honest.

We have stayed a few times and getting into the park earlier is not that great as a lot of the rides are not open 🤷‍♀️

It is expensive but I've loved staying there- I love the fact I can finish the day there and flop to be honest!

Also when we had teenagers it meant we could all leave at different times.

This was during Scarefest though when the hours were longer.

There is a campsite very near by. We stayed there and got up early to drive the five minutes to the park (you can't walk it unfortunately). Getting there early meant we were able to park close to the entrance. There's a nice pub across the road from the campsite too.
