There's no direct transport to Parkway afaik. Easiest way is to get the 'Bristol Flyer' bus from the airport to Temple Meads station which is a dedicated bus service every 15mins. Then get a train from Temple Meads to Parkway which is the next station along.

Buses are possible but will take much longer and involve several changes. Taxi will probaby cost you £30-£40 at least.

oh arse. i haven't booked the train yet, but it seems to be the only direct route to dorchester. if we get the bus and then the train we will never make the dorchester train.
arrive at 8am airport no bags
train at 9.19 from parkway.
balls up non?

It's just about possible. The train ride is only 5-10mins from Temple Meads to Parkway, bus is maybe 30 mins from airport and they go every 15mins afaik. There wouldn't be much scope for delays though.

The contact no for the Bristol Flyer (airport bus) is +44 (0)870 580 8080, for details of times, etc.

Trains go at 8:41, arr 8:51,

8:46 arr 9:03

9:00 arr 9:08

So quite tight, really.

There's later trains to Dorchester at 9:32 or 9:55 but they involve 2 changes and take 3 1/2 hours. Or 11:19 is a direct train.

What time do you have to be in Dorchester?

This site seems to think that you can get to Dorchester from Temple Meads direct if you take the Weymouth train on First Great Western trains. It leaves at 9:49 which gives you more leeway. I just searched Bristol Airport to Dorchester, arriving by 12pm.

National Rail Enquiries have it down as a direct train into Dorchester West by the looks of it. It's only 2hrs so gets in at 11:49. Might be less stressful to do that and get a taxi/bus to the right place in Dorchester than rushing for the Parkway train.

olihan- thanks so much for all the research.
i am actually going to a funeral and am finding the travel arrangements quite stressful.anyway i thinkyou are right about the taxi. there will be a few of us so i think it may work out to be easier.
I am going to check out hire cars now- in case that would solve the thing.
you have been very helpful.thanks again
