Somewhere great to stay between Hertfordshire and Leeds.

6 friends, age 55 ish, want to meet up for a fun and fabulous get together. July 2022. Hotel, spa, Airbnb - doesn't matter what as long as there some good restaurants nearby and maybe some sites or interesting shopping.
Must be between Leeds and Harpenden. Pretty equidistant preferably.
What do you suggest?

type in the relevant postcodes and it’ll show you accomodation, food/drink etc in and around the halfway point.

Stamford is a really attractive town about half way, and there’s Burghley House and Rutland Open Air Theatre on your doorstep.

Sketchley Grange Hotel Spa in Hinckley. I went there once as a halfway between North and South, very nice weekend.
