Hotel recommendations near London Excel

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend a hotel which is near London Excel and also a reasonably straight forward journey from St Pancras Station? (It doesn’t have to be an Excel hotel but not too far) Having a overnight in London with my teen and wanting somewhere which feels like a bit of a treat but isn’t too expensive. My nerve won’t hold for a last minute booking.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Would it work to do the other way and stay at the St Pancras hotel and travel to Excel? There's just not much around Excel itself so I'd be tempted to go there just for whatever event you're doing and stay somewhere else!

I would def do this. The Excel area is not great, for hotels or anything else. Near St Pancras, there are lots of hotels and you can walk from there to Coal Drop Yard for restaurants.

Don’t stay near the Excel, there are hotels but it’s such a boring area (and there is no where decent to eat). The Excel is super easy to get to on Crossrail so stay somewhere central like Kings Cross or Farringdon.

Thanks all good advice, staying nearish to St Pancras would work if the journey to Excel from there is straight forward. Any specific hotel recommendations or ones to avoid at all costs! Thanks again x
