Hi All. Thinking of booking a night away next week for half term, probably just premier inn or similar. Thinking of Bristol, Western way. I have 3 DDs (9,11,13) so looking for recommendations for things to do please 😊

I don’t know how well you know the area but here’s a few ideas.

If your dds like art Bristol has a Van Gogh exhibition at the moment which looks great. Might take my dds in half term.

We the curios is good though might be a bit young for the older one.

there’s a new ice skating rink on cribbs causeway as well as an air hop which is always good fun.

Weston pier is good fun in a tacky sort of way. The marine lake is also supposed to be reopening some time this summer at Weston, but not sure whether or not it has as yet.

clevedon marine lake is open though and you can hire paddle boards there.

bristol is always good for shopping. Also za za bazaar if a fun if hectic dining experience.

Amazing thanks @Ohhelpicantthinkofaname that's really helpful, the girls would love ice skating. Thinking of booking the premier inn near cribs causeway so hopefully will give us some options. Thank you!

Noah’s Ark Farm Zoo is a lovely, open, tiny animal park. DS (12) asks to go there regularly at half term. Really nice cafe there too. It’s a great way to spend a few hours on a warm day.

we the curious i believe is closed after the fire, don't think it's opened yet

Justkeeppedaling · 24/05/2022 23:40

Don't bother with the Van Gogh thing. It's not that good.

You can take a ride on a boat on the harbour though.

Concorde museum is very close to Cribbs and is well worth a visit.

M shed is good and free!
Bristol museum.
Boat ride to Beeses tea Gardens from the docks in the Bristol Packet.
Roller disco near the amphitheatre.
Planet ice at cribbs.
The wild place also near cribbs is a good day out.
Sometimes Almondsbury Creative have things going on too.

Bristol.
Upfest is on this weekend if they like street art. There's also plenty of Banksy's work around the city.
SS Great Britain
The Matthew
The M Shed
Clifton Suspension Bridge
Camera Obscura on the Durdham Downs.
Ashton Court.
Blaise Castle.
Gloucester Road, Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway for shopping
Take the ferry around the harbour.

Weston-super-Mare
The beach (but beware of the mud at low tide)
The pier
The helicopter museum

I heard it was, but it’s quite pricy. Maybe I won’t risk it.

We were very underwhelmed. It wasn't "immersive". The display didn't go as far as the ceiling. There were people walking about all the time, including kids, and the actual display was very slow. It could have been so much better with just a little more thought.
And there's no parking anywhere nearby unless your lucky enough to find a spot on the road.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/05/2022 08:28

It's Weston-super-Mare, not Western- Super-Mare.
Hope that helps with your searches.

If you're staying near Cribbs, then the Wild Place would be a really good option for a morning or afternoon. As well as the animals it has a great outdoor climbing area (it costs extra and you'd probably need to pre-book a timeslot).

The beach at Brean is lovely for a walk and an ice cream.

saveforthat · 26/05/2022 19:38

I thought the van gogh exhibition was brilliant @Justkeeppedaling but agree it should have included the ceiling.

saveforthat · 26/05/2022 19:42

Marine lake at Weston-Super-mare is due to reopen 01 June
