Wizzair - is it that bad?

Looking to book a cheap package deal to Turkey during the summer. Cheapest flights with decent flight timings is coming from Wizzair.

BUT....the reviews from Trust Pilot are horrendous! Extensive delays, shocking customer service.

Are this company really that bad or do I just need to manage expectations? We can only just afford to go as it is and changing flights would substantially increase the cost.

Do we take a punt or are they best avoided at all costs? Confused

My DD went to Budapest with Wizzair with her friend and they had no problems at all. Cheap and cheerful.

Only flown with them twice. No problems at all.

Far better than Ryanair IME!! The crew were friendly for a start 😂

DH used to use them a lot to go to eastern Europe & they were fine.

kingat · 21/05/2022 22:35

I have been flying with them for years. They seem new as only expanding in the UK now, but they have been around for ages. They are like easyjet imo, you need to check what baggage yoi are buying. Never had any prooblems

My parents have a place in Eastern Europe and most of the flights there are Wizz, so we've used them a lot and my parents even more. I gather they are especially unhelpful when things go wrong, probably hence the terrible ratings, but they are fine most of them time in our experience.

My dd was going travelling she started to book a flight with wizzair then didn't enter bank details and changed her mind as she found a better flight. She got an email of 'her flight' details . She was worried as she thought she could be charged. I rang them to explain they had made a mistake . Dealt with a very rude man who kept interrupting me and refused to accept what I was saying. Told me she better be on the flight as she would be charged. I asked how without bank details. He said she just would. I ended the call and never heard back. Would imagine they are a nightmare if you have any problems

ForAFriend123 · 21/05/2022 23:15

Good to know! Sounds like most other budget airlines - all ok until something goes wrong and then the customer service is a nightmare.

Anyone know how strict they are are on hand luggage sizes? Can't bring myself to pay another £100 just for one piece of hold luggage!! Shock

Hilariously have just been on Trip Advisor and literally every review says avoid like the plague!!

no problems when I've flown with them. I flew a couple of weeks ago with hand luggage, no one checked. the airports are so chaotic at the moment I don't think they have time to check. I added a 10kg trolley bag for £8, plus you get a generous smaller bag too. Plenty for a 5 day holiday. Bought big toiletries at the airport though.

xippo · 21/05/2022 23:53

I do find their website is nearly as tricky as Ryan airs though

kingat · 21/05/2022 23:58

I am suprised by there reviews. I had 5 flights cancelled in covid and got money back no problem. The staff have always been helpful. The only grip is they operate from Luton mostly, which I hate with a passion.
